What Makes CrossFit Fitness Program So Popular ?

June 30, 2017 by Fitness Membership Prices Team

Why has CrossFit Gained So Much Popularity?

[ad type=”vlink”]

Fitness has become the new buzz word these days, with so many people looking to get more healthy. With that extra emphasis on overall fitness has lead some people to abandon the traditional gym or fitness club for a different kind of experience. This relatively new or probably more like newly found type of workout is called CrossFit and the gym’s that specialize in it.

CrossFit was actually discovered back in 2000 by a man named Greg Glassman and today there is an entire sport centered around CrossFit and many CrossFit branded gym locations throughout the country.

What exactly is CrossFit and why does it seem to be so popular?

CrossFit is a workout regime and also is a competitive fitness sport, that you will find men and women from all over the world competing in a number of events. The crossfit workout combines elements from a number of other individual workouts like; high intensity interval training, powerlifting, weightlifting, plyometrics, gymnastics, calisthenics, girevoy sport and strongman.

One of main factors behind its popularity would appear to be the fact that there is so much variety in the workout. If you have ever worked out with free weights or a weight machine you probably experienced issues with plateauing from time to time. This happens when the muscles get so used to a certain amount of movement and it will not longer respond in the way that you want it to. The only way to get past this is to use some sort of interval training or muscle confusion type workout.

This is exactly why a workout regimen like CrossFit is so successful, it already incorporate an element on interval training. This combined with the other types of exercises, your body is unlikely to experience the plateauing associated with so many other workouts.

CrossFit Gym’s

Today, CrossFit affiliated gyms can be found all over the US and throughout the world. At these specialized gyms members learn the techniques and workout regimes that have become the hallmark of the CrossFit company. The very first CrossFit gym was opened in Santa Cruz, California by the co-founders Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 2000.

The CrossFit Gyms are run by coaches with more than 13,000 of them affiliated with the CrossFit organization. Since CrossFit combines so many different disciplines you will find a much larger variety of workout equipment as compared to your typical fitness center or gym.

Key to success with CrossFit

One of the things that makes CrossFit a popular choice these days is that it is more of a strength and conditioning workout. This means it delivers a total body workout instead of one that focuses on one specific area like weight training or cardiovascular exercising. So, if you are looking for a change of pace with your workouts, give CrossFit a try.
