Weight Loss Should Not Be Rushed

Why this is terrible approach is quite simple, most of the diet programs that are designed to help you lose weight quickly all involve withholding of food in some form.

The trouble with simply cutting out of one type of food or another is more often than not the substitute is has its own set of problems. Let’s take diet soda for example, most people wrongly assume that since diet soda does not have sugar in it that they can drink as much as they want. However, that is not the case, studies have shown that the sugar substitutes all have their own sets of concerns, but that is for a whole other article.

Most health and fitness experts agree that slow, steady weight loss is the most effective for long term success. Hence, the marathon and not a sprint approach to your weight loss will result in the most likely success. No need to rush to get to the finish line only to find out that you did not take the time to learn what it took you to get there in the first place.

Portion Sizes Is The Key To Slow Steady Weight Loss

As I mentioned earlier, the extra pounds didn’t just magically appear overnight, it was mostly likely the half a dozen donuts or large pizza you regularly ate over the years that simply added up. Whether you know it or not, the only way to lose weight is to eliminate more calories than you are bringing into your body on a daily basis.

This is why portion size will become your new best friend and you will soon realize that it is not necessarily what you are eating, but rather how much of everything that is the biggest culprit to your weight gain over the years. Chances are you have know idea about what the nutritional value of the foods you eat and how much the maker of the food says you should be eating.

Everything you buy from the grocery store of corner market has the nutritional information stamped on the side. The correct portion size for that item is clearly marked. If you take the time to read and understand the information that you have, you will see that you can lose the weight. Just treat it as a marathon, slow and steady wins the race.
